WorshipWorship at Crookes Valley offers a friendly, informal environment to share and learn more about the Christian faith, and its relevance to modern living. Set around tables in a 'cafe-style' church, fresh coffee and refreshments are served from 10am allowing church members and visitors to come in, relax and chat prior to the start of the service. The style of worship varies from week to week, with emphasis on allowing worship to develop rather than conform to any particular style or format. Some weeks will follow a traditional hymns-and- sermon based format, other weeks will be more modern and interactive in nature. The worship and music group will often lead part of the service, enabling the church to learn contemporary worship songs to help keep our expression of faith fresh and new. If traditional church worship on its own is not for you, and want to experience a different way of being church community, then why not come along and see for yourself what Crookes Valley is about. Service TimesSunday Morning - Worship is held in the lower worship space at Broomhill Methodist Church. Coffee and refreshments are available from 10.15am and the main worship begins around 10.30am or shortly afterwards. Please note that from September '08 there, on the first Sunday of each month there will be no Crookes Valley worship on in the morning - though if you forget and turn up don't worry - you can always go to the Broomhill service upstairs in the Fulwood room. ![]() Evening gathering (first Sunday of the month) - Because not everyone is good at getting up early on a Sunday morning, and to give more people the opportunity to experience our emerging style worship, we are currently experimenting with moving to an evening service once a month. The service blends together the Crookes Valley style and the AWE (Alternative Worhsip Experience) services. This service begins at 6.00pm in the upper worship space. Bible StudyStudying the bible and deepening our understanding of the Christian faith is an important part of our personal and church life. This takes place in the Wesley room at Broomhill Methodist Church. Anyone is welcome to join us. Knit and Natter![]() Whether you are an accomplished knitter or have just started to pick up needles and wool and need some assistance with your latest project, our knitting group meets at Broomhill Methodist Church every second and fourth Tuesday of the month at 6.45pm. Group projects have also been undertaken over the past months, including a knitted nativity scene, and knitting clothing for premature babies. After a summer break, Knit and Natter starts again on 13th September 2011. Music GroupIn addition to a visiting speaker the church has its own worship leader and the worship/music group, led by Chris and Andy, will often lead the church in its prayer and worship. We are always looking for new musicians to join us and help build up the music at Crookes Valley. So if you do come to Crookes Valley and play an instrument then have a word with one of the team - we'd love for you to join us. Sunday LunchesFollowing the service on a Sunday morning a number of people will invariably visit a local pub in the Broomhill area to relax, catch up and have a bite to eat. Particularly in the summer we also venture further afar into the peaks for a spot of lunch (our favourite place being Grindleford Station Cafe!). Anyone wishing to do so is more than welcome to come along and join us. We look forward to getting to know you! |
